Keeping your hair strong and healthy

Hair is built to be strong but over time the layers begin to wear down from the environment, heat and styling.  So, how strong is your hair?  Take this test to find out.

Take a single strand of hair and tug on it.  If your hair is strong it should stretch about 30% of it's length and spring back.  If you find that your hair breaks, or does not bounce back, it's time to get your hair strengthened up.

How does someone strengthen hair that is weak, damaged or brittle? There are many steps to do this and Donte's of New York, the Premier Hair Loss Treatment Center of Scottsdale, can help you achieve a stronger,  fuller head of hair.  Follow our steps and in no time you should see a head of hair you could be proud of.

  1. Use the right products-Using the right products can make all the difference.  If you have dry, damaged or weak hair, using products from the Hair Support Line can make all the difference in the world. Hair Support even has a kit to get you started. A deep cleansing shampoo that loosens build-up on the scalp which in turn will create a healthy environment for the growth of dormant hair. The Hair Support Restructuring Conditioner is a light and natural conditioner for the scalp and hair. It helps to maintain moisture and  does not weigh down hair with build up. The final product, Hair Support Overnight Scalp Treatment.  This is a patented treatment that deep cleans hair follicles and the scalp which potentially leads to the growth of dormant hair.  Using these three products all together will lead to stronger hair follicles, a full head of hair and a happier you.
  2. Eat the right foods-Protein is the main food type that can help get your hair stronger.  So, add eggs, lean meats and beans to your diets and watch how strong your hair becomes.
  3. Stay away from high heat-If you are going to use a hair dryer then do not use a flat iron and vice a versa. When you do use either of these heat products do not keep heat in one area for very long. Heat dries out hair so focusing heat on the hair will only produce bad results.

What is Trichotillomania?

Trichotillomania, yes it is a mouthful, but for those 2.5 million Americans of all ages that live with it, it is a difficult struggle on a daily basis.  Not only is Trichotillomania a bad habit, it is a neurological disorder that causes people to pull out their own hair. As time progresses, and hair is pulled out of the same area by the root, it can leave permanent hair loss.  Although it may affect men it is predominantly seen in women.

Fortunately we are here to help. If you are suffering from hair loss due to Trichotillomania, genetic or medically, we have natural solutions that can make you feel great about your hair again.  Call today for your FREE consultation to learn how: 480-483-8800 and please visit us on the web: www.dontes.com.

How often should I color my hair?

At the first sign of a gray hair, do you think, "Uh-oh, it's time for my hair to be colored?"  Well, think again, you might actually be doing more harm then good by coloring your hair too often.

Ideally, you should be getting your hair colored every 6-8 weeks.  Any sooner than that, can cause breakage and potentially hair loss.

There are a few steps you can take to help your color last longer.  One of the best ways to keep your hair color looking vibrant is by washing your hair less and when you do wash your hair, use a shampoo that is made specifically for color treated hair. We love the Sudzz FX line of shampoos as they are meant to prolong your color and not wash it out.  Another way to keep the grays at bay, is to use a color wand or spray. We offer these options to our clients all of the time and they love it. It is a quick and easy fix to mask those grays while saving you a few dollars by not having to get as many color services each year.  Finally if you are a woman, you can style your hair differently to cover up the grays. Pull your hair back into a cute ponytail or barrette, and make hiding the grays a fun experience.

Donte's of New York is a full service Hair Loss Treatment Center, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. We specialize in hair loss, hair extensions and hair replacement. What is Common Baldness also known as male or female pattern baldness?

Common baldness is a term that is given to male pattern baldness(the most common cause of hair loss in men), permanent pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia.

Men who have male pattern baldness have in most cases inherited it from a family member.  Male pattern baldness is when the hair line recedes and there is a loss of hair on the top of the head. Men who begin to lose their hair at a younger age, generally have a higher degree of hair loss than a man who is older.

In women, female pattern baldness occurs.  For women experiencing female pattern baldness, they will see hair thinning over the entire scalp.

Donte's of New York has solutions for all forms of hair loss, whether you have just started losing your hair or whether you have lost most or all of it, Donte's of New York, can get you back to a full head of hair you will love.
