Hair ages as we do

Did you know that your hair ages just as we do?  Yes, each year the diameter of our hair strands gets thinner and we have fewer hairs that grow in.  Along with this natural thinning process, the wear and tear that we have put on our hair after years of coloring, using chemicals and styling with heat, our hair just seems to look less and less like it used to.

What can you do to help slow down this aging process?  Try to use less heat on your hair or if you must use heat, use a lower setting.  If you color your hair, try to push out your coloring sessions to a longer time frame or use a rinse instead.

If you find that your hair is at a point where you might need some additional help to get the fullness you desire, give us a call at Donte's of New York. At Donte's of New York, we offer many ways that we can help you get back the beautiful, full hair that you love. Whether you require a little bit or a lot of hair added, Donte's of New York, can offer you many options that will allow your hair to look gorgeous and natural, just as if it were your own.

Some Hair Facts

An average head of hair has 100,000 hairs, especially if you are a brunette or have black hair. If you are a redhead you have a little less at 80,000 and if you are a true blonde you will have the most at 120,000 hairs.

At a single time, only 90% of your hair is growing.

It is normal to lose on average about 100 hairs per day.

Before you can tell that you are experiencing hair loss you would have to lose at least 50% of your natural hair.

By the age of 50, more than 50% of men will experience male pattern baldness.

By menopause, more than 40% of women will have female pattern baldness.

Remy Hair Extensions Vs. Virgin Hair Extensions, which one is better?

Visually one cannot tell the difference between Remy Human Hair and Virgin Human Hair extensions but when looking for one or the other, here are some things to know.

Remy Human Hair Extensions:  All of the hairs that make up the extension are running in the same direction, thus allowing the hair to flow freely and not tangle.

Virgin Human Hair Extensions:  The hair is unprocessed and the cuticle may be running in opposite directions which can cause the hair to knot up if not handles properly.

Donte's of New York is your hair replacement specialist, offering hair loss solutions for both men and women, which include hair pieces, hair extensions, wigs and Micropoint Solutions. Some Breast Cancer facts

The most commonly diagnosed breast cancer is called Ductal Carcinoma (starts in the ducts that move breast milk to the nipple) and the second most diagnosed is ...
Lobular Carcinoma (the part of the breast that produces milk).
Breast Cancer may be invasive-spread from the milk ducts or lobules to other breast tissue or non-invasive-not yet invaded other parts of the breast tissue.

There are several tests to identify breast cancer:

Mammograms-help screen and identify breast lumps
MRI's-Better identify breast lump and evaluate an abnormal change on a mammogram.
Ultrasound-Shows whether the lump is solid or fluid filled
Biopsy-Studies the pathology of the tissue
CT or Pet Scans-Used to identify if the cancer has spread.

Breast cancer is a devestating disease and once diagnosed can be very scary. Chemotherapy, although saves lives, can cause havoc with your body such as lethargy, nausea and hair loss. At Donte's of New York, we understand how losing your hair can effect you. Breast cancer and how it affects your hair

Getting diagnosed with breast cancer is heart breaking and life changing.  Patients that undergo a certain type of chemotherapy, can experience hair loss which can be devastating.

If you are someone who is told that hair loss will be a side effect of your chemotherapy, we suggest you meet with a professional who can offer you the right options for your hair loss.  A knowledgeable professional will be able to help you to select a wig that suits you and can mimic how you looked before the chemotherapy treatments.

It is best to visit a hair professional prior to your treatments as most people start to experience hair loss within the 1st -2nd rounds of chemotherapy. Having a wig to transition to that you feel great in, will help to make your road to recovery so much easier.

Donte's of New York has over 50 years of experience in the hair loss treatment field, offering non surgical solutions to both men and women to help you get back your hair to the way you want it to look...natural and beautiful.  Call us today for your FREE consultation or visit us on the web:  www.dontes.com to find out more.

Keeping your hair strong and healthy

Hair is built to be strong but over time the layers begin to wear down from the environment, heat and styling.  So, how strong is your hair?  Take this test to find out.

Take a single strand of hair and tug on it.  If your hair is strong it should stretch about 30% of it's length and spring back.  If you find that your hair breaks, or does not bounce back, it's time to get your hair strengthened up.

How does someone strengthen hair that is weak, damaged or brittle? There are many steps to do this and Donte's of New York, the Premier Hair Loss Treatment Center of Scottsdale, can help you achieve a stronger,  fuller head of hair.  Follow our steps and in no time you should see a head of hair you could be proud of.

  1. Use the right products-Using the right products can make all the difference.  If you have dry, damaged or weak hair, using products from the Hair Support Line can make all the difference in the world. Hair Support even has a kit to get you started. A deep cleansing shampoo that loosens build-up on the scalp which in turn will create a healthy environment for the growth of dormant hair. The Hair Support Restructuring Conditioner is a light and natural conditioner for the scalp and hair. It helps to maintain moisture and  does not weigh down hair with build up. The final product, Hair Support Overnight Scalp Treatment.  This is a patented treatment that deep cleans hair follicles and the scalp which potentially leads to the growth of dormant hair.  Using these three products all together will lead to stronger hair follicles, a full head of hair and a happier you.
  2. Eat the right foods-Protein is the main food type that can help get your hair stronger.  So, add eggs, lean meats and beans to your diets and watch how strong your hair becomes.
  3. Stay away from high heat-If you are going to use a hair dryer then do not use a flat iron and vice a versa. When you do use either of these heat products do not keep heat in one area for very long. Heat dries out hair so focusing heat on the hair will only produce bad results.
Donte's of New York offers solutions for people with fine hair, thinning hair or hair loss. We have all non damaging treatments to provide you with a full head of hair you have always dreamed of. Call us today for a free consultation-480-483-8800 or visit us on the web: www.Dontes.com

What is Trichotillomania?

Trichotillomania, yes it is a mouthful, but for those 2.5 million Americans of all ages that live with it, it is a difficult struggle on a daily basis.  Not only is Trichotillomania a bad habit, it is a neurological disorder that causes people to pull out their own hair. As time progresses, and hair is pulled out of the same area by the root, it can leave permanent hair loss.  Although it may affect men it is predominantly seen in women.

Fortunately we are here to help. If you are suffering from hair loss due to Trichotillomania, genetic or medically, we have natural solutions that can make you feel great about your hair again.  Call today for your FREE consultation to learn how: 480-483-8800 and please visit us on the web: www.dontes.com.
